Words of Inspiration and Motivation

Words of Inspiration and Motivation

Many times when we listen to people talk about the field of early childhood, it helps us to realize how important and special children are.  As professionals we should ensure that young children get the best possible learning experiences available.  Teachers have the most power to motivate students because they are the ones on the front lines.  They are able to influence students in ways that they can actually understand.

Inspirational Quotes

William J. Clinton

“We cannot build our own future without helping others build theirs’

“If you live long enough, you'll make mistakes.  But if you learn from them, you'll be a better person.  It's how you handle adversity, not how it affects you. The main thing is never quit, never quit, never quit.”

Janet Gonzalez-Mena

“We all want children to grow up in a world free from bias and discrimination, to reach for their dreams and feel that whatever they want to accomplish in life is possible.  We want them to feel loved and included and never to experience the pain of rejection or exclusion.”

“We can raise children to celebrate and value diversity and to be proud of themselves and their family traditions.  We can teach children to respect and value people regardless of the color of their skin, their physical abilities, or the language they speak.”

The Passion for Early Childhood - Quotes from  PROFESSIONALS

Renatta M. Cooper

Passion: "I always felt like I owed families my best".

Motivation: “What keeps me engaged is that we're not there yet with any of them".

Wisdom: "You've got to take your ego out of it and think about what's best for the child."

Sandy Escobido

Passion: "We as professional in the early Childhood Field have an opportunity to shape a child's life for the better."

Motivation: “So when I go to these parent meetings and actually see parents learning how to speak to policy makers, learning how to write letters, learning how to tell their story and share their voice; that's what keeps me motivated regardless of the challenges going on."

Wisdom: "And so through that experience seeing how involved my parents were, it made me want to be involved in education in general."

PERSONAL CHILDHOOD WEB

The five most important people who nurtured and cared about me as a child

(1)  My Mother  - Glendell Monley.  I grew up in a large family which included five girls and three boys.  My mother raised all eight of us as a single parent.  We all grew up in a very loving Christian environment.  My mother instilled in us values, respect, and morals that would stay with us throughout our adult life.  She was a caring a giving person who always put her children before anything else.  She taught us to treat others as we would like to be treated.  She encouraged us to always do our best even when sometimes we may not succeed.

(2) My Teacher – Ms. White.  Ms. White was my fifth grade teacher.  She was always very kind to all of the students in her class.  She taught us to never give up no matter how hard tasks became or what obstacles or challenges we were faced with.  She treated everyone the same, as if we were her own children.  She was also interest in what input our parents hand in or education.  She would meet with them on a regular basis to encourage them to do their best to help us learn, develop, and grow.  Ms. White attended my wedding, and her word to me were “Kesha you always had potential and I knew that you would be an asset to society and an inspiration to others”  (Ms. White).

(3) My School Counselor   Mrs. McDougald - The primary role of my school counselor was to encourage, support, and foster academic, career, social, and personal development for all of the students that she came in contact with.  She was tough but firm.  She wanted to see me succeed in everything that I attempted.  She was kind, considerate and talked to me with the gentlest voice.  Actually she reminded me of my mother.  I never heard her say anything negative.  She would always praise me for my accomplishments and for my failures.  She always told me how valuable I was and stressed the many opportunities that were out there for me.

(4) My Siblings – I grew up with three brother and four sisters.  We did not always get along but we always looked out for each other.  My siblings always encouraged me and told me how important I was. When I felt bad about making a low grade on something they were always there to let me know that it would be alright and to keep going.  They stressed the point that just because one door closes does not mean that another one will not open.  We always helped each other when needed and had family meetings to discuss any problems that we were having within the family.  We went on family vacations.  They always complemented me on how well I dressed, how smart I was and whatever I decided to become when I grew up I would always be successful because I had much to offer society.

(5) My Pastor - Reverend Cummings – He was the pastor of our church.  We saw him faithfully every Sunday.  He praised us for being such well mannered young children and he always told us to strive to do the best that we could at everything.  I sang on the choir and he always told me what a beautiful voice I had.  He told me that I was a very special person and that I continued to keep God in my life that I would always be blessed where ever I went.

I would like to thank all of the people above who helped me to become the        person that I am today.  They showed me love, and they encouraged me to do the best that I could possibly do.  They helped  me to have confidence in myself and for this I want to say thank you.

Updated Blog - A Chiild's World

A Child's World

1. A quote about children, childhood, families, early childhood, etc. that is especially meaningful

to you.

I believe the children are our future, teach them well and let them lead the way.

2. The title of a children's book you love, and what you love about it.

Cinderella - I like the part where the prince finally found out who the glass slipper belonged to.

He and Cinderella fell in love and live happily ever after.

3. A story about a child that touched your heart.

A 5-year old little girl in my class drew a picture of her family. The picture included herself, her

mother, her father, and her four older sisters. What was really amazing was that she wrote their

age beside each of their pictures, including her parents. She drew a beautiful house, grass,

flowers, and a dog in the yard. The one thing that amazed me the most was that each one of them

had a smile on their face, which led me to believe that she lived in a very loving home

environment.

Children are our Future

Children are our future, therefore we as professionals should help them to grow, learn, and prosper in all areas that will enable them to become prominent citizens of society.  Children learn as they grow from each other and their teachers.  In today's society children have the opportunity to excel in all developmental domains, physically, socially, emotionally, and cognitively.  We as professionals need to be postive role models for young children and show them that we care about their well being and social development.  Communication between adults and children is very important, therefore adults should provide as much meaningful levels of communication as possible whenever needed.  I beleive that children of our future will be successful in life if given the proper learning tools.
